Directions:
From the A6 between Matlock and Bakewell take the B5056. Follow signs for Birchover, continue past the Druid Inn to farm sign at the top of the village.
Activities
The plan is that we can join Keyna for the walks of bike rides on Saturday and Sunday, or do our own thing.
Saturday activity
If we join Keyna's group then we will take in the quintessential Dovedale valley and Dovedale Woods walk by the side of the River Dove. We will make a cross country break, down the River Manifold, following the Manifold Way, and another cross country break to the start point (deliberately avoiding any pubs!). The walk starts and ends at Ilam. Distance about 14 miles, leaving the bunkhouse at 9.15am.
If we do our own thing, then the bunkhouse is well into the National Park, so we could walk directly from the bunkhouse. There are plenty of interesting-looking paths following along the rivers in the dales, or going up over the hills between the dales.
Sunday activity
There will be another walk planned for the Sunday. Again we could join Keyna's group, or do our own walk. Some people in Keyna's group are also interested in a bike ride, so that is another possibility.
Food
The accommodation has catering facilities, so we can do a communal meal on Saturday night, or find a suitable local pub.
