Peak District, 18-20 June

Trip organiser: Bob

The Peak District is an excellent area for both walking and climbing. There are more than 10,000 climbs with routes of all grades and numerous classics on the gritstone edges and limestone walls. It is also an ideal place to learn to climb outdoors and the weekend will be organised to ensure that anyone can have a go.

Accommodation:

We will be staying at Haddon Grove Farm campsite a few miles west of Bakewell. (Grid reference is SK 177 662. From M1, junction 29, take A617 to Chesterfield, then A619 to Bakewell; more or less straight on at Bakewell onto B5055 towards Monyash; 4km from Bakewell, turn left, go 500m to the campsite at a sharp left bend).

The campsite cannot be booked, we will turn up and find ourselves a suitable corner.

Food and drink:

Friday night – excellent local beers at the Lathkil Hotel (2 miles east of campsite). Saturday night – to be decided when we know the weather forecast. If it is good, we’ll cook at the campsite; if it is doubtful we will book a meal at the Lathkil Hotel, Over Haddon, DE45 1JE. 08721 077 077

The plan:

Climbers: breakfast at 9:30am at the Outside cafe in Calver, then meet at 11am at Stanage - Popular End, Robin Hood area, map reference SK 244 836.
Walkers: would anyone like to organise a walk for the day?

Sunday: to be confirmed, but likely to be at Gardom’s Edge, Millstone and/or Staden Quarry.
