Wye Valley, 28-31 May

Organiser: Dave H

Camping, walking, kayaking... and even a little bit of culture!

The late May bank holiday camping trip to the Wye Valley promises a weekend of activities, plus the opportunity to visit Hay-on-Wye and its famous literary festival.

We have booked a campsite at New House Farm. This is about seven miles from Hay-on-Wye, set in the Radnorshire hills. It is a simple family-run campsite, part of a working farm, with the opportunity to purchase home produce and even book a cooked campers' breakfast!

Cost is £3.50 per person, per night. Facilities include free hot shower. No extra charge for cars.

Proposed activities:

Sat 29th May: Kayaking - at Glasbury kayak centre, just outside Hay-on-Wye. Price is £20 per person, assuming two people per kayak.

The suggested trip is approximately 10 miles down river (passing through Hay-on-Wye) to the pick up at the Boat Inn at Whitney. http://www.wyevalleycanoes.co.uk/

Sun 30th May: Walk (tbc) - possibly Hay-on-Wye on the circuit.

Mon 31st May: tbc. Opportunity to visit Hay, further walking (easy access to the Black Mountains) or cycling... as you wish!

To reserve your place please could you let me know asap. I will need a £15 deposit per person as we will need to reserve the kayaks as well as the campsite. Being the festival weekend, campsites are in high demand and we need to confirm our booking at the earliest opportunity. Kayaking also needs to be booked in advance. I am hoping to book everything within the next couple of weeks.

Further details nearer the time.
