Basecamp Festival

Basecamp Festival, 2nd– 4th September 2016

Staying at: Sabine Hay, Peak District

Attendees: Alan, Claire, Maggie

Organised by Explorers Connect, Basecamp is a great little Festival that gives you the opportunity to try something new, expand your skills with an expert or simply do you’re your own activity. Here are just a few: axe-throwing, wild swimming, hiking, shelter-building, camp-cooking, slacklining, abseiling, fat-bike riding, climbing, caving, orienteering, bouldering, bush craft, navigation, yoga, white-water rafting, kayaking…..

Alan and Claire had fun river-tubing, while Maggie aimed high by experiencing tree climbing. We also walked up to Stanton Moor, unfortunately we all got soaked but battled on!

Throughout the weekend there were also some great speakers including: Sarah Outen who kayaked round the world, inspirational Paula Reid who walked to the South Pole, Andy Kirkpatrick an amazing, quirky climber,  George McGavin the BBC’s bug man, Alex Alley who competes in sailing races, Tashi and Nungshi young female Indian twins who climbed the Seven Summits. Plus there was live music and an enormous fire pit to sit round and chill out.

Highly recommended!
