Lake District, 5-9 April (Easter)

Staying at Blencathra View at Rookin House Farm, near Troutbeck, Cumbria CA11 0SS (grid reference 382254)

Everybody who came on the club trip here last Easter said what a superb place it was and let’s book it again for next year – so we have!

For those unfamiliar, Blencathra View is a comfortable converted 16th Century barn, with exposed beams, a traditional fire place (which we never got to use last Easter due to the heat wave), and under floor heating. It has a large fully equipped modern kitchen, dining room with large tables to seat everyone, and comfortable sofas in the sitting room with wood burning stove.

It sleeps 17 in 7 bunkrooms sleeping up to 4 in each room. In 3 of the 2 bed bunkrooms it is possible to bring your own extra bed/cot for a child/baby, so we can allow up to 3 families on this trip, as agreed with the owners.

Duvets and pillows are provided but you need to bring your own linen and towels.

The charge will be approx £100 for the 4 nights (price to be confirmed by the owners) a bargain for the Lakes at Easter. Price includes heating and parking.

Perfectly located for access to various mountain ranges in the northern Lakes within a 20 minute drive – Helvellyn, Blencathra, Great Gable to name a few, the walk options will be detailed nearer the time. As the barn is based at an activity centre, there are various options for other activities such as horse riding and quad biking.

Keswick is 8 miles away, and the nearest pub just over a mile. We will have group meals at least 2 evenings.

How to Book your Place:
To book your place you can see Claire on a Tuesday meet or send her an email by replying to this message. A £30 deposit per person is required to secure your place. The final balance will be payable at the end of February 2012. This will be a popular trip (we could have filled it twice over last year) so don’t delay and book NOW to avoid disappointment!!!
