The Club has booked exclusive use of Hawes End Youth Hostel for the weekend of Friday 5th to Sunday 7th December. Hawes End (http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/hawse-end-bunkhouse) is located on Derwentwater in the North Eastern Lakes. ‘a traditionally built stone cottage located at the head of the magnificent Borrowdale valley, and overlooking picturesque Derwentwater’. We had an unexpected and very successful weekend here 3 years ago when the Black Sail hut was damaged in a storm. Although this is a late autumn trip, there will be snow on the summits and crampons & an ice axe are a requirement for anyone attempting a high level walk. My intention is to catch a ferry from the nearby landing stage over to Keswick, summit Skidaw then head back, taking in more summits if time permits.
The cost will be a maximum of £32 for the weekend but may be significantly cheaper if there are more than 12 attendees. Please let Richard know if you would like to come and pay a £10 deposit to the club
NB polite reminder that due to the bunkhouse nature of the dorms and the winter equipment likely to be lying around this trip is not suitable for children.
