Spring has Sprung! Bedwyn Brails, the K&A Canal & St Katharines Church
Spring is here so please join me for this varied walk exploring the historic countryside around Great Bedwyn. From the station we will head up through the ancient woodland of Bedwyn Brail to Wilton Windmill. Then we’ll drop down to the K&A canal via a Roman road before heading west. This is a really quiet section of the canal with Crofton Beam Engines at one end and the Bruce Tunnel at the other. After a little bit of road walking we head across Tottenham Park (once home to Jane Seymour’s family) to the very lovely St Katherines Church. Well-made tracks through woodland take us back to Great Bedwyn.
Distance: 9.5 miles
About 4 hrs 10 mins walking plus stops for snacks.
Portaloo at the windmill ( 2.5 mile mark)
Meet: Great Bedwyn train station to start the walk at 9.30am
Parking is free. (I believe trains from Newbury arrive 9.15 )
