South Coast long distance cycle ride

This long distance cycle ride takes in the splendour of the UK’s only ‘natural’ world heritage site the Jurassic Coast. generally following the national Cycle route 2 back along the coast to the New Forest in Hampshire. This is a mix of country road & traffic free cycle route. Both road bikes and mountain bikes (recommend city tyres) are suitable.
The route is now confirmed as follows:

Thursday 3rd June (evening)
Afternoon/Evening train from Newbury direct to Newton Abbott. Then we have a 8 mile cycle to stay at the pleasant Travelodge Paignton Seafront hotel (https://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/501/Paignton-Seafront-hotel) at approx. £17-22pp. There are also plenty of connecting train services from Newton Abbott direct to Paignton which takes about 20 minutes

Friday 4th June
Cycle via Exeter along NCN2 along the coastal roads approximately 47 miles to stay at Beer YHA (http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/beer). Cost approx. £20-25pp. Optional shorter route by catching the train part of the way to Newton Abbott or Exeter.  Optional long route of approx. 65-75 miles.
Evening meal is being provided by the local Indian Restaurant: http://lulworth-coveinn.co.uk

Saturday 5th June
Cycle approx. 57 miles from Beer YHA to Lulworth Cove YHA (http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/lulworth-cove). Cost approx. £20-£25pp. Optional cooked breakfast available.  Optional long route of approx. 76 miles.

Sunday 6th June
After seeing the sights of Corfe Castle and getting the ferry across to Sandbanks, we enjoy a cycle back via Bournemouth and onto the New Forest. Here you can cycle as far as you want to catch the train home: Bournemouth (22 miles), New Milton (34 miles), Brockenhurst (40 miles), Ashurst (43 miles), Southampton Airport (54 miles).
Optional long route all the way back to Newbury approx. 90 miles for those who ate 3 shredded wheat for breakfast…
