  • My ambition for this trip is to have a good day’s walking followed by Xmas dinner and perhaps a party. To make it special we’d be able to have exclusive use of a YHA (at a reasonable cost) if 15 or more go. Alternatively we’ll take beds in one of the manned YHAs in the area.

    Plan A:
    Accommodation: YHA Honister Hause http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/honister-hause. Sleeps up to 26 people to share 5×4 bedded rooms and 3×2 bedded rooms, all bed linen is provided

    Cost: Based on 15 people, it would cost less than £20 per person per night, plus £10 for dinner (£50 for the weekend)

    Cost: There are currently over 10 vacancies and it would cost £15 pppn, plus £10 for dinner (£40 for the weekend)

    Itinerary

    • Saturday – Set out early and get a good day’s walking in, there are great walks in all directions from the door step and we’d be starting at 350m.
    • Evening – Team effort to get the Turkey crowns in the oven and all the trimmings prepared. We’d be miles away from anyone else so all we’d need is Alan’s tape collection. “What’s the worst that can happen?”.
    • Sunday – Half/full day walk

    Either way, this is a great opportunity for the club to have a Xmas event in the mountains.
