Wessex Ridgeway Mountain Biking Weekend

Date / Time
Date(s) - 31 Jul 2021 until 1 Aug 2021 12:00 am

The Wessex Ridgeway Mountain Biking weekend.

(not to be confused with the Wessex Way cycle that I organised a few years back…)

The whole route is approx 80 miles with roughly 62 miles of that being offroad on the Wessex Ridgeway. The route is approximately 9000ft ascent so two big days (think similar to day 1 of the South Downs way for those that did it many years ago).

The plan is to drive to the quiet village of Tisbury just past Salisbury and leave the car there. We then catch the train to Axminster where a 6 mile cycle takes us onto Lyme Regis on the south coast and the starting point. We then follow the cycling route (slightly different in places to the walking route) for approx 30-35 miles and 4500ft ascent to a Saturday overnight stay in a pub somewhere.

After a full English in the morning, Sunday is more of the same and another 40-45 miles and another 4500ft ascent as we cycle straight back to Tisbury, and most likely a beer in the nearest pub!

Highlights along the route are the Cerne giant, Cranbourne chase, Hambledon Hill, Rawlsbury Camp, Rampisham Masts and the harbour in Lyme Regis on the Jurassic coast

The train fare is approx £20 plus usual pub B&B charges.

Please sign up using our booking form here.  However if you can kindly do this sooner rather than later as it would make sorting accommodation as a group so much easier, otherwise you may need to stay in another village depending…
