Celtic Trail – Long Distance Cycle

Date / Time
Date(s) - 5 Jun 2015 until 7 Jun 2015 All Day

space remaining = 1

This should be an enjoyable cycle ride that will appeal to all those who don’t want anything technical but still want a challenge. It will follow a combination of national cycle network (NCN) routes 4 and 47 across a mix of on-road and traffic-free cycle paths for relatively straightforward riding.

The route will Start in Fishguard and will follow the Pembrokeshire coast back to Mumbles by Swansea. The overall distance will be approx. 135-140miles.
We will drive to the finishing point of this trip by ‘The Mumbles’ just a couple of miles south of Swansea on the Thursday evening and leave our cars. Then we will cycle the few miles along the coast into Swansea and stay in a hotel and get the train to Fishguard the following morning arriving just after midday.

Day 1 = 35 miles via St Davids to Broad Haven YHA.
Day 1 (optional) = additional 18 miles cycling part way to the start at Fishguard to join the main group
Day 2 = 49 miles via Tenby, Laugharne and on to St Clears.
Day 3 = 53 miles back to Mumbles where we will drive straight home.

As the weather is guaranteed to be perfect we can stop off at the many beaches and seaside pubs en-route to sample some (or lots) of the local food and drink 🙂

Thursday 4th June – Travelodge Swansea Central @ approx. £10-12 per person
Friday 5th June – Broad Haven Youth Hostel @ £25.50 per person
Saturday 6th June – Travelodge St.Clears @ £23-29 per person

On Thursday night we will venture into Swansea, on Friday the youth hostel is right by the beach and has a fully licensed bar and restaurant. On Saturday St Clears is a couple of minutes from the high street with a couple of pubs, fish and chips & Indian restaurant…
