Scottish Long Winter Weekend

Date / Time
Date(s) - 19 Feb 2016 until 22 Feb 2016 12:00 am

Just trying to gauge interest in a Scottish winter long weekend next February. The proposal is to go back to the Corrour Estate, where some of us went in February 2012 and loved it – despite there being little snow on that occasion! There are several Munros on the doorstep to get use out our ice axes and crampons.

We have a provisional booking at the same lodge from Friday 19th Feb to Monday 22nd Feb, see: http://www.corrour.co.uk/holiday-houses/the-chapel-(10)/
– very cosy, with one of the memorable features being the huge tin baths! It sleeps 10 and the accommodation will cost £50 per person if 10 go, a bit more if we don’t fill it.

Various options for getting there. Alan and I will be taking the sleeper (non stop to Corrour) from Euston on the Thursday night, back Monday night (approx £150 return including your bed there and back). Or you could fly to Glasgow and then join the train, or drive and do the last bit by train. Oh, I forgot to mention – it is located 4 miles from the most remote railway station in the UK, but a landrover can carry our gear (including our food and booze supplies) from/to the station for a small fee! If you get the sleeper you will have 4 days of walking in this beautiful remote region (and we will have the accommodation available all day on the Friday and Monday).

E-mail me back if you’d like to go, and if we get the numbers we’ll go ahead and confirm the booking.
