Unsolicited Mail

It has come to our attention that the newburymountainclub.org.uk domain name is being illegally used by unscrupulous persons to send bulk spam emails. We regret any inconvenience caused by this. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to prevent our address being used in this way. Apparently, there is no provision in e-mail protocols in use today to validate or authenticate that any particular user has rights to use an address or domain name.

[Not a valid template]

We understand that spammers are now routinely stealing the e-mail or Web site identities of people on the Web, and using them to send millions of pieces of junk advertising or offending e-mails. Spammers don’t need access to the mail server of the address they are using. The average person on the Internet doesn’t yet understand that this can happen, and many legitimate organisations, like ourselves, end up being victimized.

Please accept our apologies if you have been a recipient of such an email bearing our address.
