Local Walk: Pilot Hill

Sunday 1st March:

Lovely walk from Faccombe to Pilot Hill and with great views to the north. Very windy up on the ridge but it was a fabulous sunny day. It was great to see the rain clouds in the distance which were blown north and away from the walkers. Overall we did about 9 miles mainly in open countryside and a couple of steep climbs up to the ridge of Coombe.
We had seven people turn up outside the Jack Russell pub which is now unfortunately closed. Also joining us, were 3 four legged companions, Chip, Lily and Russell who all enjoyed the stroll and were well behaved on their leads.
Drinks and lunch for some of us in the Carpenter’s Arms on the way back into Newbury completed a lovely morning. Very satisfying when the rain finally arrived later that afternoon.
