Greenham Common & Enbourne River Local Walk

Date / Time
Date(s) - 1 Mar 2020 All Day

Organiser: Simon

The plan for the walk on 1st March is to start at Thatcham Station at 10am (there is a train arriving from Newbury at 9.52).

We will head up to Greenham Common via Chamberhouse Farm. After crossing the common, we will drop down to the River Enborne and follow it east for around a kilometre, then to Goose Hill and along a short section of the Brenda Parker Way, returning via the Travellors Friend and the bomb store. This is around 8-10km, depending on the route we take across the common. We could extend by going further east and walking back along the canal.

I expect that we would stop for a drink at the Travellers Friend if we pass it, but not food (it only serves a roast on Sunday, which needs booking). Alternatively, people could stop at the Swan near Thatcham Station for food (it appears from the website that it serves food throughout the afternoon), and people could walk back to Newbury along the canal.
