Highclere  Walk – Sunday, 18th August 2019

I hope you can join us for a 12 mile circular walk that starts in the grounds of Highclere Castle.  In the summer months some of the footpaths are open to the public and this gives us the opportunity to explore places such as the Temple of Diana, the Chapel and Grotto Lodge.  We will then walk onto the Wayfarers Way around the base of Beacon Hill and back along a disused railway onto the Brenda Parker Way. A shorter option would be just to do the castle grounds.  Afterwards we can have a drink at The Carnarvon Arms.

Time: 10.30pm

Directions: If coming from Newbury head up to the Tot Hill Services on the A34, take the first exit (Winchester Road) and head south, parallel to the by-pass. Go past the Carnarvon Arms and turn left onto a track opposite the entrance to the park at Whitway.  Parking is limited so we may have to leave a car at the pub.

What to bring: packed lunch, drinks, snacks etc

(Dogs must be kept on a lead in the park).

Please let me know if you are able to come…
