Availability: Navigation Course on Saturday is now full there are still 4 places available at the bunkhouse
The course will probably include map orientation, symbols and scales, grid references, ground shape and contours, strategies for finding a feature (micro navigation), identifying the mountains and ridges all around, pacing and timing distances, measuring and walking on a bearing, relocation strategies (how to find where you are if you get lost!), plus night navigation on Saturday evening. We will hopefully have the opportunity to practise on Sunday.
I have confirmed that we still have the BMC Grant money so the course shouldn’t cost more than £10 each, probably less. A bargain!
Where:
I have now booked Ynysmarchog Bunkhouse near Trecastle, west of Brecon. It’s a 4 star barn conversion in the upper Usk Valley and sleeps up to 14: people. http://www.bunkhousesinwales.co.uk/bunkhouses/ynysmarchog-bunkhouse
Cost:
Based on the above numbers this will make the cost of the weekend between £40 and £45. However, it will be advertised as a club trip so if others come along it will be cheaper.
