Scrambling Trip (North Wales)

Date / Time
Date(s) - 19 Aug 2016 until 21 Aug 2016 All Day

Having been thwarted by the weather recently and also due to requests from club members, I am giving Wales one more chance to give us some good weather!!

I’ve booked 6 places at Gwern Gof Uchaf bunkhouse http://www.tryfanwales.co.uk/ (in case the weather is like previous trips) for this weekend and the idea is to do some scrambling in Snowdonia. Cost is £24 each for accommodation and we’ll probably do a group meal.

It’s broadly a follow-on from the trip 2 years ago, but if you didn’t come on that it’s not a problem! I’ve recently been on the BMC scrambling course, so will be looking to practice my rope work and cascade train anyone who’s interested (use of what I can communicate is at your own risk). Having said that, the trip will be suitable to scrambling beginners as well as those more familiar with more technical routes.

You will need to have general walking kit, including a stiffer pair of winter boots or approach shoes. A climbing harness would be an advantage, but I know there are club members with spares and direct tie-in is up for practice (but not very comfortable!) so we should be able to sort it out if you don’t have one. You absolutely must have a “head for heights”/comfortable with exposed positions or be willing to push your boundaries.

First come, first served (£10 deposit payable to the club). I’ll be in the pub on Tuesdays to chat about it and there’ll be more details regarding transport, accommodation, food, drink, equipment and routes to follow.
