West Kernow Way Long Distance Cycle

Date / Time
Date(s) - 10 Jun 2023 until 12 Jun 2023 All Day

the WKW is a large figure of eight on the southern tip of Cornwall and is the newest National Cycle Network route. The route is a mix of road and lost byways and trails.

We camp at https://trevessafarmcamping.co.uk/ (£20) near St.Earth on the first night and leave our vehicles there. The second night is the Premier Inn at Helston (£48) which is a couple of miles detour from the route owning to lack of accommodation.

Day 1
Either arriving the night before or a very early start from Newbury to get to the campsite for breakfast, heading over to St.Michael’s Mount before looping round the bay to Penzance and then across to Lands End before making our way around the headland and back to the campsite
52 miles
4000ft ascent

Day 2
Heading clockwise around the top half of the loop up towards Redruth beore heading south to Constantine and Gweek, where we then divert off a few miles to the Hotel. Evening meal and cooked breakfast at the adjoining May Tree restaurant (the hotel has an offer for £24 for a two course evening meal with a drink, and an all you can eat breakfast…yum!)
55 miles
4500ft ascent

Day 3
Cycle around the headland and down towards Lizard Point before heading back up the coast through Porthleven and backup to the campsite to head home
50 miles
3900ft ascent
