24th – 26th April 2020  Wilderness camping trip

Organiser: Claire White

Backpack across the Black Mountain (Western Brecon Beacons National Park), with two superb wilderness camp locations.

Friday night – a couple of hours walk to the first camp by a lake, probably in the dark (so night navigation will be required) depending on what time we get away from Newbury.

Saturday – spectacular walk across the escarpment, and then head to a very pretty but deserted spot by a small river to camp. Walk can be shortened depending on energy levels.

Sunday – about a three hour walk back to the car, but can extend if so wish.

As this won’t involve long distances of walking (but still a lot of ups and downs and off track), this is an opportunity for beginners to try out backpacking and carrying all your kit for a wilderness camp. You do need to be an experienced walker though. It is possible that some items of kit can be lent, e.g. tent, rucksack.
