Another wonderful Scottish shooting lodge provided us with our very comfortable base for the week, nestled in Glen Carron surrounded by snowy peaks including many Munros. The lodge took a while to warm up (being so huge) and it took a while to get used to all the stag heads on every wall, but once the log fire got going, we all agreed it was a fine place to spend a week.

The weather was kind (by Scotland standards) and between us all many Munros were accomplished, adding a large meterage to the MMM challenge. Most people walked every day, heading in different directions and in a variety of weather, including snow storms on most days, but we did manage to get some summit views and the odd bit of blue sky. There were some hard ascents, but always a spectacular and well deserved summit ridge to enjoy. Sarah and Andy also managed a wild camp on probably the coldest (but clearest) night of the week, so being able to access a couple of Munros a long distance in from the road.

As always on the Scotland week, we ate and drank very well, with home cooking provided by Si/Ali, Maggie, Simon, Claire, Dave, and Sarah/Andy, and eaten in the grand dining room overlooking the mountains, but with us looked over by 4 huge stag heads!

I’m sure we all returned fitter but fatter after such an enjoyable week.
